GlaxoSmithKline - ABIS Partnership
GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has recently become a Partner of ABIS. As a Corporate Partner, GSK will take up a seat on ABIS‘ Strategic Advisory Board with the long-term aim of enhancing the business contribution to society through more impactful collaboration between the corporate and academic worlds.
GSK’s partnership with ABIS has its roots in the exciting and ambitious project called Managing the Responsible Business Challenge in Africa.
Together with other major companies (including fellow ABIS Partners IBM and Unilever), plus a number of Africa’s top-ranked business schools, GSK is helping to pioneer new approaches to develop future African leaders of industry and society who will be capable of stewarding the continent’s sustainable development in the 21st century. This also builds directly on GSK’s 2014 commitment to invest more than £100 million in R&D, innovation, and manufacturing capacity in sub-Saharan Africa through to 2020.
The project’s ultimate aim is to generate thousands of responsible, ethical graduates who – through their deep understanding of the role of business in African societies and related managerial skill sets – contribute over time to the enhanced stability and sustainable development of markets, enterprises and communities.
