ABIS loses a great friend and colleague

Wednesday, April 4, 2018

Dear ABIS friends and colleagues,

It is with great sorrow that we have to share with you the passing of our beloved friend and colleague Dr. Ludwig Roger.

Since joining ABIS in 2010, Ludwig’s work and vision have been profoundly influential in many areas of our network: bringing together and managing international research consortia, shaping the conversation on research policies between ABIS and the European Union, championing the Knowledge into Action Forum to become a solid reality, as well as being responsible for numerous publications in our field. All these are testaments to the outstanding contribution he made.

Ludwig’s undiminished efforts were grounded in a deep belief and the conviction that a positive and sustainable future for Europe and humanity was within reach. He has been an exemplary professional and a person to admire for his courage, dedication and humanity. You may have known of the valiant struggle against cancer Ludwig waged during the past months. To say that he will be missed is simply an understatement.

His memorial service will take place this FRIDAY, APRIL 6th, at 10:00 CET, at Église Notre-Dame de l’Annonciation Place Georges Brugmann in Brussels, and we would like to extend an open invitation to anyone who may wish to attend.

In order to support his family in these sorrowful times, we invite anyone who would like to attend to send an email to Ruben Duraes before Thursday close of business.

Tu vas nous manquer beaucoup, Ludwig.
